Healthy, safe, and energy-efficient solution for heated swimming pool
To create a comfortable, healthy, safe, and energy-efficient swimming environment, we need to develop a year-round operation plan for a heated swimming pool. The year-round operation plan for a heated swimming pool involves the following five aspects: temperature control system, circulation and filtration system, water quality management, energy consumption management, and safe operation.

1,The temperature control system
Choose the most economical combination of energy sources (electricity, gas, solar, air/ground source heat pumps) based on local energy prices. For example, use heat pumps in spring and autumn, and supplement with gas boilers during extreme low temperatures in winter. Install the swimming pool cover if need.
The water temperature can be set according to opening hours and visitor flow. For example, at China ,the standard pool water temperature: 26-28℃; indoor air temperature: should be 1-2℃ higher than the water temperature.
2,The circulation and filtration system
Continuous operation year-round: The circulating water pump should run at low speed 24 hours a day to ensure continuous water filtration. High-speed operation can be adjusted according to traffic flow.
Besides, regular backwashing should be performed based on filter pressure differential (not at fixed intervals) to ensure filtration efficiency.
And regarding preventative equipment maintenance: Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly maintenance calendars to lubricate, calibrate, and inspect pumps, motors, valves, sensors, etc.
3,The water quality management
Water quality monitoring instruments, which monitor pH and residual chlorine/ORP in real time, and automatic dosing control systems are the most effective means to ensure stable water quality.
4,The energy consumption management
The energy consumption management is key for cost control.
(1) Utilizing Peak-Valley Electricity Pricing: Main equipment such as heating and filtration systems will operate during off-peak hours at night.
(2) Intelligent Lighting and Ventilation: LED lighting and human body sensor/timer control will be used. The ventilation system will automatically adjust based on indoor humidity (CO2).
(3) Heat Recovery and Energy-Saving Technologies:
For indoor heated swimming pools, the use of a dehumidifying heat pump is strongly recommended. It can simultaneously dehumidify, heat the pool water, heat the air, and pre-cool/preheat the fresh air, resulting in extremely high energy efficiency and making it an energy-saving tool for year-round operation.
Solar Preheating: If available, this can be used as an auxiliary heat source.
5,Assure the safe operation
Implement basic measures such as ensuring safety at water inlets, preventing slippery surfaces, and ensuring lifesaving and monitoring capabilities, as well as develop strategies for handling special seasons.
